The Ceilidh
Absolutely! Ceilidhs are a great way to celebrate whether it be for a wedding, birthday, anniversary, corporate function or any other excuse for a party!
We have an experienced dance caller who will talk everyone through all of the dances and even though at first glance, the dances may seem confusing, once you give them a go, they are really easy and a lot of fun.
We have played to audiences from the USA, Canada, Australia, Italy, Ireland and England, to name a few, many who have never done ceilidh dancing before, and they have all loved every minute of it.
Yes. We understand that not everyone attending your ceilidh may have participated in a ceilidh before or may simply have forgotten the steps, so we have an experienced dance caller within the band who will talk all of your guests through each dance step by step. This way, you will be sure to keep the dance floor filled all night long.
Yes, not a problem. We know all of the popular ceilidh dances and will try to include as many of them in our set as possible. If you have a particular request which is not included in our list, please let us know in advance of the event and we will make sure that we include the dance in our set list for the performance.
Many couples will choose a favourite song which can be provided to us in advance to download or can be brought along on the night of your wedding on a USB.
Alternatively, we have many nice waltzes and other slow tunes in our repertoire which work well as a first dance, or if you have a particular tune in mind, we would be happy to learn it with suitable notice.
General Enquiries
To make an enquiry with the band, you can phone us on 07527891397, email us at info@ayrshireceilidhband.co.uk or make an enquiry through our online form. The more information you can provide us with – such as event date, location, playing and time requirements of the band – the easier it will be for us to check availability and give you an accurate quote for your event. We aim to respond to all enquiries within 3 working days.
Once we have had a chance to discuss the requirements for your event and provide you with a quote for the services which you are happy with, we will then issue a booking contract to confirm all of the details for your booking. At this point, the booking will be provisional and will be confirmed once we receive a signed copy of the contract along with a 25% deposit of the agreed price.
We advise you to make a booking as early as you can to avoid disappointment and we will take bookings from up to 2 years in advance until 1 day before, assuming we are available. Friday and Saturday evenings and around St Andrew’s Night, Burns Night and the festive period, especially Hogmanay, are our busiest times, so these dates will fill up early on.
We will travel wherever you want us to play. We are based between Ayrshire and Glasgow so regularly travel around this area, throughout the central belt and Edinburgh.
As an indication, if your venue is more than 2 hours drive from Glasgow, or on an island where there is no way for us to return home afterwards, we will require accommodation.
For gigs abroad, we will require flights, accommodation and any additional expenses to be taken care of.
Where possible, we will try to accommodate you attending an event to hear the band in advance of making a booking, however, as most of the events that we play are private functions, we will always ask the client if they mind us inviting along one or two people to hear the band at their function.
